Homeros Gaia'dan hiç bahsetmez, bize onu Theogonia'sında anlatan Hesiodos'tur. Gaia bir tanrıça olmaktan ötedir. O kozmik bir güç, kozmik bir varlıktır ve kendi kendine doğurabilir (partenogenez - döllenmesiz üreme). Gaia önce gökyüzünü (Uranus), denizi (Pontos) ve dağları (Ourea) doğurdu.
Homeros did not say us anything about Gaea, Hesiod was the one who told us about her in his Theogony. Gaea was beyond being a goddess. She was a cosmic force, a cosmic being and she could give birth by means of parthenogenesis. Gaea first brought forth the sky (Uranus), the sea (Pontos) and the mountains (Ourea).

Toprak Ana Gaia Uranus'ü doğurur. Uranus yıldızlı Gökyüzü'dür ve ilk erkek tanrıdır. Gökyüzü (Uranus) Toprak Ana'yı (Gaia) tümüyle örterek onunla birleşir ve böylelikle tanrılar soyunu başlatır. Bu birleşmeden Gaia 6'sı erkek, 6'sı dişi 12 Titan ve Titanid*, 3 Tepegöz (Kyklop) ve 3 Yüz Kollu Dev (Hekatonkheir) doğurur.
Mother Earth Gaia gave birth to Uranus. Uranus was the starry Sky and he was the first male god. Sky (Uranus) lay over the Mother Earth (Gaea) and mate with her. Thus he gave start to the generation of gods. Gaia gave birth to 6 male and 6 female Titans and Titanides*, 3 Cyclopes and 3 Hecatoncheires.
