Sıfır / Zero

Sıfır, Arapça “sifra” yani şifre kelimesinden türemiştir. Aynı bir şifrede olduğu gibi görünen bir değeri olmamakla birlikte sonsuz olasılıklar barındıran ve eksik olan her sayının yerine geçebilecek bir değerdir. Herşeyin ondan çıktığı hiçlik ve kaos sayısıdır. Başlangıcı simgeleyen sayıdır.

Sıfır kavramının diğer medeniyetler tarafından bilinmesinden ve kullanılmasından önce Mayalar keşfetmişlerdir ve bu sayının sembolü olarak da istiridye kabuğu ve salyangoz (spiral)  kullanmışlardır. Salyangoz spiral şekliyle mevsimsel yenilenmenin, yani yeniden doğuşun simgesidir. İstiridye kabuğu da rahmi ve cenini simgeler ve onun da üzerindeki hatlar spiraldir.

Sıfır sayısı aynı zamanda “daire”nin de sembolüdür ve daire bütünlüğün sembolü, dolayısıyla sıfır  sonsuz olasılıklar bütününü temsil eder ve her şeyin mümkün olabileceğini söyler.

The figure of the number zero derived from the Arabic word "sifra" which means the cipher. As it is with the cipher, zero is a number which has no apparent value but reserves infinite possibilities and can replace any value that is missing. It is the void and chaos from which everyting emerges. It is the number symbolizing the beginning. 

Before other nations had known and used zero, the Mayans discovered the concept of zero and they used oyster shell and snail (spiral) as a symbol of this number. With its spiral form snail is the symbol of seasonal renewal, i.e. the rebirth. Oyster shell represents the womb and embryo and its patterns are also spiral.

Number zero is also the symbol of circle and circle is the symbol of wholeness, for that reason zero stands for the body of infinite possibilities and it says anything is possible.
